Superhero
(c) 2003 Brian Madison

I was walking the road
Carrying a load
Feeling as old as my feet
Along came a boy
My own pride and joy
A child who was really quite neat

We continued along
A father and son
When he suddenly started to speak
He had so much to say
In his own way
So I told him while kissing his cheek

If I be your superhero
Will you be my biggest fan
You teach me to be a child
And I’ll teach you to be a man
We will walk this road together
Try to do the best we can
If I be your superhero
Will you be my biggest fan

I’ll be there to give the answer
When you ask me how to live
Do good, be happy, own your own mind
And know you’ve got a lot to give

Lead the way and show me how to
Surrender to my inner child
You remind me of the days
I ran and played and sang and smiled

If I be your superhero
Will you be my biggest fan
You teach me to be a child
And I’ll teach you to be a man
If I set a bad example
Will you try to understand
If I be your superhero
Will you be my biggest fan

Now I am not a superhero
But I know this much is true
There is nothing we should fear, no
‘Cause you’ve got me and I’ve got you

Up ahead there is no knowing
How steep a mountain we may climb
I see how quickly you are growing
Hold my hand while there’s still time

If I be your superhero
Will you be my biggest fan
You teach me to be a child
And I’ll teach you to be a man
We will walk this way together
Leave our footprints in the sand
If you be my biggest fan then
I can be your Superman
