You Don't Even Know What You're Sayin'
(c) 2006 Brian Madison

What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror?
Get any sense of your ultimate fate gettin' nearer?
Constant distractions; around you they swirl
Not even aware of a much greater world
With genuine riches; a pig among pearls in the field

Only believe what you're paid to believe by your master
Cognitive dissonance taking you towards a disaster
Pressing the flesh, yeah, and working the crowd
Backslapping huckster, all smiley and loud
The meeting of mindless all firmly avowed not to think

And you don't even know what you're sayin'
You're on automatic, and you don't even care, no
You don't even know what you're sayin'
And it's kind of tragic, 'cause your not even there no no

Asking us questions, not listening to answers we give
Only one mode you've got; it's really sad how you live
So well connected, yet so out of touch
Clear that you just don't respect us that much
Twisted enough that you're lovin' this game with such pride

Talk without thinking; all ego, no ears and no eyes
Know that it's easier if you believe your own lies
Just compensating for wisdom you lack
Forget your commitments when you turn your back
Turn to self pity when under attack 'cause we've found

That you don't even know what you're sayin'
You're on automatic, and you don't even care, no
You don't even know what you're sayin'
And it's kind of tragic, 'cause your not even there no no

Jet-lagged, distracted, and losing your mind
In mortal terror you'll be left behind
Caffeine psychosis you can't even find your way out

And you don't even know what you're sayin'
You're on automatic, and you don't even care, no
You don't even know what you're sayin'
And it's kind of tragic, 'cause your not even there no no
